What is bonding?

Bonding is a conservative way to repair and improve the appearance of slightly chipped, discolored, or crooked teeth. During dental bonding, a white filling is placed onto your tooth to improve its appearance. The filling “bonds” with your teeth, it comes in a variety of tooth-colored shades allowing the bond to naturally shape, blend, and match the appearance of your natural teeth.

Bonding fillings can be used on front and back teeth depending on the location and extent of tooth decay. It is a less expensive cosmetic treatment that can also work as an alternative to fillings or to protect an exposed portion of a tooth’s root.

However, bonding can stain with and is easier to break than other cosmetic treatments such as porcelain veneers. To prevent or minimize stains avoid drinking tea, coffee, and cigarette smoking during the first 48 hour. Additionally, brush your teeth and have your teeth cleaned every 6 months by our dental hygienist.
